What it does
The Nihola Cigar Family Trike is one of the safest Child Transportation Bikes. It's a spacious, comfortable and versatile machine that's capable of transporting children or lots of shoppping or a mixture! 2 children up to the age of 8 years old can be carried or a car seat/maxicosi plus an older child - even an adult up to 100kg in weight can be carried.
The bench can be removed without the need for tools which means it can be quickly turned from a Child Transport Bike into a capable Cargo Bike.

Becasue the Nihola is a Trike - there's no worry about stability even when fully loaded. At traffic lights and junctions you can keep your feet on the pedals in a position that allows you to accelerate quickly away - there's no need to 'dab' down with your feet.
The steering system on the Nihola is designed by Ackerman and is effectively the same as a car steering which makes it very stable and easy to steer. Most other Cargo Trikes require the rider to steer the whole box which is harder work and less steady.
The Nihola is the only cargo bike which has a double tube frame in the cargo box which gives the best protection from impacts for the passenger. The cargo box has a very low centre of gravity - this means that the weight of your children or cargo will have less effect on the steering.
Nihola Cigar Family has, after testing, been declared the best 3-wheeled bike for child transportation by the Danish Newspaper Politiken and the Dutch "Fietsersbond" (Dutch Cyclist Union). Quite an accolade given the proliferation of bikes in Holland.
The Nihola is handmade by experienced bike makers in Copenhagen, Denmark. All nuts, bolts and most of the components are stainless steel which makes them resistant to rust - handy for a bike that will be used as your vehicle of choice in all weathers! The Nihola does not use any hard to find specially-made parts - everything on the Nihola is available from Practical Cycles or any good bike shop should the need arise.
You will note that the Nihola comes with the Shimano Nexus Hub. This is a hub that is currently being ridden on thousands of cargo and child transport bikes the world over. It designed to be a low-maintenence hub thanks to it sealed-against-the elements construction. This combined with a rust free chain and chain guard make the Nihola a great choice for use in harsh environments and for those who don't want the trike to be out of action for maintenence or repairs very often.

Based mainly on the Family Trike, the Nihola Dog Trike has a wide opening aluminium front door allowing your dog to enter and exit the bike on their own. We supply the child seats and belts with the dog trike for added flexibility but the seats can easily be removed (without tools) in just a few seconds.
